Alva
Is 20 years old, born in Gothenburg. She has always been interested in music and have been singing for as long as she can remember. When she was nine years old she wrote her first song lyrics in Swedish. If you ask her now they are terrible but when she wrote them they were the best she had ever seen. At the age of twelve she changed her course and started writing in English and since then she has found it much easier to express herself in her lyrics. The year she turned fifteen she started to take vocal lessons and she immediately felt at home with what she was doing. The summer of 2019 she started her Youtube channel then under the name Alvis music. Where she uploaded a few covers. She took a break for almost a year and during that break she focused on writing her own lyrics and the development of her voice. With the exemption of two videos in December of 2019 that she posted in combination with her 31 days of December completion that she did on her instagram.
Then in the summer of 2020, when nothing was like it used to, she posted a lot of different covers as well as she wrote her own, among those the lyrics to Not the same. She also changed all her channel names during that summer from Alvis music to Alva music. When asked why she said that when she started to post videos online she didn’t feel comfortable in her own name and used the nickname she was given as a kid. But during that summer she gained a lot of confidence and wanted to start the journey towards being the artist she strives to be. In July of 2021 she released her first single Not the same with a music video that followed.
In the beginning of 2022 her second single This song was released a song that was very different from her first one. She continues to write about different experiences in her life and she hopes that she one day will move people the way that her Idols has moved her. She wants her listener to feel like they are not alone when they listen to her music and wishes that her songs may help people get though different parts of their lives.
When working on Heart in thorns she changed her stage name to Alva S. The reasoning behind this was that she felt like she had been working too much with the same thing to be using music in her name. She also said that she wanted to be as true and authentic to her self and with what she did that she didn’t want to hide behind a persona anymore.
Heart in thorns was the biggest project that Alva had ever done and it took her over a year to finish writing all the song and producing them. And she hopes to do something that big again some time.
The First Single
One late night in July of 2020 Alva wrote the lyrics to the song that would late become her first single. It took her two hours to write it and she has explained it like the lyrics was just pouring out of her. Like she didn’t have to think before the words where on the paper. Then a few months later when she had built up enough courage she brought the lyrics to her vocal coach Marie Jakobsson, who helped Alva get in contact with a producer. The producer in question was Christoffer Nordenstörm. He worked with both Alva and Marie during a couple of months before the music background was done. After that Alva and Marie got in contact with another producer who mixed the track. Alva then worked closely with this producer, Patrik Larsson, for about a month before the finish song was ready for reales. When Alva then released the song the 14th of July 2021 she was beyond exited and the responses she was getting form different listener was amazing. As she felt like one of her dreams came true.
The second single
Alva started writing This song in the end of 2018 but she wasn’t able to find the right words for the story. So the lyrics weren't finished until valentine's day 2021. When she was finally finished with the lyrics she was so happy that she’d found the words worthy of the story she was telling. Almost right after she brought the lyrics to her vocal coach Marie Jakobsson who immediately sent a first draft to a pianist called Kimmo Tuomaala. All three were very persistent with having a background worthy of the song that was so important to the writer. Since the song was so important to Alva Marie was the one who mixed and mastered the whole song to it’s finished product. That was finished in November of 2021. Alva then performed the song at a winter concert for her school and was baffled with the response she was getting. She loved the song because it was so personal to her and it seemed like everyone loved the story she was telling with it. When the song was released the 7th of January 2022 she was so happy with how the public responded to it. And in under 2 months This song had over 1000 streams on Spotify.
And the journey has just begun!
